Barbel Hauer came to Canada decades ago from post-war Traunau, Romania, one of several thousand Displaced Persons [as they were called back then] to build a new life.

Cooking has played an ongoing major role in this life. As one guest who has sampled her ample board, I can verify that it is a multidimensional experience.

Known in her adopted hometown of Toronto through public television as a quite accomplished chef and story-teller, Barbel loves to chatter with high and low alike about how much fun it is to make such wonderful dishes. We hope that as you follow in her recipe steps, you will experience the same active inner joy that she does.

Listed at right are menu sets, each with several recipes for a feast culled from her years of experience as experimental cook, wife, mother, and hostess.
